For Sale

As much as I hate to do it, it's time to sell the S2KEV. I really want to start looking into my next EV and I have to sell this one for the funds. I put up a listing for now at EVTradin for those interested in the details.

After putting 10k miles on this one I feel comfortable selling it since I know it's been a good conversion and is reliable.

So what's next? I'm not sure yet exactly but you can bet I'll be blogging on it!

Cant wait to see your next project!!

I just have a general performance questions about the car. What kind of acceleration does it get? Roughly? Compared to the ICE version of the S2000 or say, a Honda Civic?
Thanks

Just wanted to ask what kind of acceleration does this get? As compared to the ICE version of it or maybe as compared to Honda civic acceleration....better/worse? Thanks.
btw...idk if i posted this twice, sorry if i did...

On the original build, the car didn't have great acceleration. It was probably half of the original car. I've been redoing a lot of things on the car lately and one of which is modifying the motor controller. I went from a 144v 500 amp setup to a now 180v 750 amp controller and the acceleration is really good. I think the 0-30 is faster than stock, but the 30-60 is still a bit less. I'll need to try and clock it to see what it can do, but it's not back to being sporty and a lot of fun to drive.

Did you just raise the voltage on the batteries or you had to add a few extra batteries? And the controller...did you buy a new one or just tweaked your original curtis 500amp? Thanks

I went from 45 to 54 cells to raise the voltage. The Curtis has multiple modifications done by a friend to increase the amps, allowed max voltage increase, and remove the whine. Sadly I promised not to release any information on how this was done.

For anybody looking into building an EV though, I highly recommend a controller with more than 500 amps. Nothing worse than an under powered vehicle.

I see, yeah I'm thinking of putting together my own EV and I wanted to use a Zilla 1k but they don't have those anywhere.
Which controller would you recommend, the curtis or kelly? And i wanted to have 156volts and at least a 700-750 amp controller.
If anything, would your friend be willing to tweak my controller, and how much would he charge if interested?
Thanks a bunch.

If you go with Kelly, you'll honestly want to double your amps. They rate them at a peak, short duration rating. Curtis rates them at what they'll do for a much longer period of time without backin down. However, they only make the 500, and it's just not enough.

I was looking at the WarP Drive controller by Netgain. If my mod Curtis didn't work out, that was my backup plan.

oh thats right, i remember reading that post you had about comparing kelly and curtis but i wasnt sure where to find the post again. do you know of anyone who has used the netgain controller? and if they had any porblems with it?
thanks

No, it's fairly new and I haven't searched around much to find any user experiences.
